What's New in Version 2.3

On January 5, 2017, we released the current version of NJSHAD, adapted from IBIS-PH and NM-IBIS version 2.3. Here's what's new for you, the end user.
Three new and easier ways to get to the data you need
  • Health Topics give background information and links to NJSHAD indicator reports and dataset queries related to each of 22 public health topics. This is a better starting point for users who don't know yet if they want indicator reports or custom queries.
  • Community Profiles take data points from multiple indicator reports and show them together for a selected community. Comparable statewide and U.S. values are shown alongside the community data values. Community selections include all 21 counties and the 4 largest racial/ethnic groups in New Jersey.
  • Search results are now limited to NJSHAD content.

Maps as query output
  • Now, when you build a query that includes County as the "display by" category, you will get a map as part of your result page by default. Line, bar, and other graphs are still available.
  • County map data can be grouped several different ways (e.g., Jenks natural breaks or quantiles) and into 2 to 5 color groups after the map has been displayed.
  • Map colors can be reversed, if desired.
  • Three different base maps are offered, overlays and labels can be hidden/shown, and zooming is possible.
  • Hovering over a county displays its data.

New datasets to query

Kendo User Interface
  • Kendo provides greatly improved graphs with more distinct colors and automatic display of error bars.
  • Kendo data tables allow users to sort columns, hide/show columns, filter results, and collapse/expand rows.

Mobile device compatibility
  • Menus shrink when the screen width is below a specified number of pixels.
  • Menu tabs must be clicked to display or hide contents (no hover over).

Operating Systems and Browser Versions

NJSHAD was developed for desktop using Windows 7 and Google Chrome. It has been tested on and runs in the following browsers. Older versions and other browsers may not render pages properly. (More information about unsupported browsers.) Please make sure your browser version is up to date.

Note that NJSHAD does not work properly in pre-Version 9 Internet Explorer. Even if your IE version is up to date, it may still emulate an older version and NJSHAD will not display or work properly. Please use one of the other browsers listed above.
