Other Objectives

'''Healthy New Jersey 2020 Objective CKD-1''': Reduce the death rate due to kidney disease. This measure is being tracked for informational purposes and no target has been set.

How Are We Doing?

The age-adjusted death rate due to kidney disease in 2010-2016 is significantly lower than it was in 2000-2009. In New Jersey, about 1,500 deaths each year are due to kidney disease. The age-adjusted death rate due to kidney disease among Blacks is more than double that of other racial/ethnic groups in New Jersey. In the total population and among each racial/ethnic group, males have a higher death rate than females. County rates per 100,000 population (age-adjusted) range from a low of 7.2 in Hunterdon to a high of 17.9 in Burlington and Salem.

How Do We Compare With the U.S.?

The New Jersey age-adjusted death rate due to kidney disease is slightly above the national rate but the difference is not statistically significant.
