Sources of Data

Communicable Diseases

The reportable communicable disease data in the NJSHAD query module come from the New Jersey Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance System (CDRSS) database maintained by the New Jersey Department of Health. The database does not include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, or sexually transmitted diseases (chancroid, chlamydia, granuloma inguinale, gonorrhea, lymphogranuloma venereum, syphilis). All data shown are for New Jersey residents. Technical Notes for each year's data are available on the CDS website.

See the Communicable Disease Service (CDS) website for more information about CDS programs, disease reporting requirements and regulations, immunization requirements, forms, publications, and more.

Population

Population estimates used to calculate rates are derived from the most recent vintage of population estimates prepared by U.S. Bureau of the Census.
