Birth Data and Statistics
  • Health Indicator Reports: Brief reports that contain data, graphs, and contextual information for topics including
    • preterm births,
    • low birth weight,
    • cesarean deliveries,
    • births to teens,
    • and more.
    Data are usually presented by race/ethnicity and county of residence as well as showing trends and comparisons to national data.

  • Birth Data Query: An interactive system that allows users to produce graphs and tables by selecting variables and values from an extensive list of data available from birth certificates, including:
    • mother's age, race, ethnicity, marital status, parity, substance use during pregnancy;
    • infant's gender, plurality, birth weight, and gestational age;
    • prenatal care onset and method of delivery;
    • county and municipality of residence;

Copies of Certificates

certificate icon Go to the New Jersey Department of Health's Office of Vital Statistics and Registry if you need a copy of a birth, death, or other certificate. Online ordering is availale.
